The war, the “end of the world”, and what we can do to help bring about sanity.

There is much being spoken and written right now regarding what is happening in the Middle East, the war in Iran, and biblical prophecies.  It seems there are those in positions of political and cultural prominence who are eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of the prophecies within the Bible regarding the “end of the world”.  They somehow see such a thing as desirable, as “winning”.  Throughout history is there any warring tribe, nation or coalition in which the leaders and/or the general populations did not believe that God was/is on their side?  So, if God shows up to end it all, they’re going to be the winners, right?

In ancient times the dire prophecies, of prophets who were listened to by the people receiving the prophecies, never materialized.  Why?  Because the people understood the warning implicit in the prophecy, either recognized the truth of it or accepted it on faith. The people then changed their thinking and behavior to alter the path that they were on which would have resulted in the fulfillment of the prophecy.  The people who avoided experiencing the fulfillment of such dire prophecies had the wisdom, the connection with our spiritual reality, to get it together and keep their lives and communities whole.

Fast forward to today, March 15, 2026.  More people in general, at least in the United States, seem to be disconnected from our spiritual reality than possibly any time in history.  Fascination with the media, stardom, wealth, fame, fancy cars, big houses, drugs, depression, hopelessness, callousness toward one another, seem to be at an all time high.  As for spirituality, the fact that human beings even have a spiritual reality seems to be all but lost in the mix.  Many today believe that we don’t, have a spiritual reality at all.  Many seem to believe the corporeal, material reality that we can hold and hoard around us is it, all that there is.  No wonder there is so much depression, hopelessness, and callousness in the world.  When we cut ourselves off from our spiritual origin, like a flower cut off and put in a glass of water, our time has become shortened, our lives diminished.

If people around the world had been conscientiously paying attention to the Biblical end times prophecies over the past couple millennia, we would be living in a Utopian world right now.  Why?  Well, as was described earlier, we would have made a concerted effort to be in harmony with sound spiritual teachings. People would have altered course from the greed, the warring, the worship of false material gods.  It’s not that we would turn our collective backs on the benefits and joys that many of the material inventions of the past few centuries have to offer, it’s just that we would have them in a more proper perspective.  Simply put, as I’ve heard it expressed, we would realize that we should love people and use things, not the other way around.

Another confounding factor is the role the Roman Catholic Church and many of it’s offspring, the Protestant churches, have played.  They seem to too often function, to use an all but worn out phrase, as the opiate of the masses.  Providing a “let’s pretend” context in which all people have to do to reach the Kingdom of Heaven is to simply attend church, give enough to the church, give lip service to respecting the importance of the teachings of Jesus and the prophets, confess your sins (but you don’t necessarily have to stop committing them), confess Jesus as Lord (even if you reject his teachings), and bada boom, you’re in.  Never mind working to build an entire life firmly founded in sound spiritual wisdom (that part seems to be often left out).  Religion and positive, healthy spirituality are not necessarily the same thing.  Sometimes they are, and if you’re lucky enough to be involved with a fellowship or church in which they are, you are blessed.  However, too often they aren’t.

In reality we are never apart from the context that the kingdom of heaven can occur within. We don’t have to go someplace faraway to enter the kingdom of heaven: we nurture it into being within ourselves. The foundational reality of the kingdom of heaven is always within us. Part of our task here on Earth is to use our minds and spirit to nurture it into being within our temples (our bodies) and manifest it within our lives, wherever we are. If that seems impossible to anyone, it is because we have been taught too many falsehoods by too many presenting themselves as spiritually authoritative figures and institutions. People and institutions that to a significant extent had/have a more material, wealth and power, agenda.

Not everyone who has engaged in passing along these falsehoods has done it to manipulate us and subjugate us. However, those are the motives behind the creation of the falsehoods which many in the world have been instructed in. I venture that very often those who directly instructed us in such falsehoods themselves totally believed what they were passing along. They themselves were working under the veil of the falsehoods, trying to make it to the truth. It’s important to note that usually the falsehoods are interwoven with truths and half-truths. These are the “hooks”. Once a person is adequately mystified, it’s game over. It’s not that these institutions have never done anything positive in the world, they have. It’s what keeps them in business. Too often they are too much a business. One which is not as interested in the same “products” that their “customers” hope, need, and believe them to be.

So, here we are, facing another terrible war with, with again (because it’s not a new thing) a number of people proclaiming it’s the end of the world.  Only this time some people in positions of power seem to be intentionally using the Book of Revelations and other Biblical prophecies as a basis for their war strategy.  They seem to want it to be the “end times”, they’re rooting for it.  I can think of no other reason than that they figure if that is the case they will be “the winners”.

While the onus of right thinking, right behavior is on us all, what the power brokers seem to not realize is that the bigger, the wealthier, the more powerful your nation is, the more opportunity it has had to do the right things. Actions which would work toward creating a more perfect human culture. For decades they could have working to prevent the current animosities, killings, suffering. But, other than some window dressing, they haven’t. They still aren’t.  The fact that this war is happening at all, or any war for that matter, is ample evidence that too many people have failed and are failing to live in keeping with sound practices within our foundational spiritual reality. A reality which many great spiritual leaders and teachers have shown to us over and over again.  There are yet prophets in the world today: men and women, spiritually ordained prophets. I venture a good number of them, still putting the needed truths and teachings forward for people to hear, consider and hopefully adopt.

It is important to keep in the mind that ultimately, we all have a direct connection with the Divine Creative Spirit and, if we develop it, all are capable of knowing and communicating the truth, in whatever situation we find ourselves in or are seeking to understand.

Is it too late?  Like lemmings have we gone over the cliff this time?   Have, over the past few decades, the delusional, fearful warmongers taken the world too far down the path of narrow personal interest, fear and destruction?  (While they try to present as anything but, the people behind the greed, suffering and wars are filled with more fear than most.)

I don’t think so. however, if “they”, the perpetrators of the madness, keep getting their way I don’t think they have either the wisdom, restraint, or apparently survival orientation to keep it from happening.  They are, quite literally, mad.

I know of no governmental Earthly power that is in place to stop the carnage, the greed, the descent into madness that is occurring so pervasively around the world.

What can we do?  It is important to realize that we are not powerless.  I mean that literally and transcendentally.  We are children of the Divine Creative Spirit, God.  As such we are connected to the pervasive spiritual reality that we are a part of and that we live within.  Our minds, our spirits, are spiritual/energy sending and receiving units and we affect the world.   We do make a difference.  We need to work to keep our thoughts, our feelings, our visions of the future filled with love, with appreciation and respect for one another and this planet, this world that we are both the inheritors and the stewards of.  We have to guard our feelings and thoughts and not let them be hijacked by the fear filled, hatred filled, greed filled thoughts and feelings of the men and women who are perpetrating the ill feeling, the suffering, the wars that are so widespread at this time.  If we let them instruct us in what to think and feel we are feeding them.  We become resources in their diseased agendas.

We need to get in touch with the Divine Creative Spirit which we all are a part of and are always living, moving, breathing within. It can be both intimate and impersonal. We need to remember that while we must appropriately assess situations and actions, we should not judge. We need to work for the wellbeing of all. Whether it was Alexandre Dumas or William Shakespeare, or someone else, they got it right when they coined the phrase “All for one and one for all.”

Finally, while it is imperative that we recognize the reality of the mental/spiritual sickness which those preoccupied with accruing worldly wealth and power are afflicted with, we need to also have love for the lost, unhappy child, our spiritual brother or sister, that still exists somewhere inside of them.  That doesn’t mean that we should support and indulge their egoistic desires. However, we need to be ready to offer forgiveness when they sober up, realize and repent what they have been doing.
