I think there is nowhere in the world that people do not have some degree of awareness of the attacks on the twin towers (World Trade Center, New York) that took place on Sept. 11, 2001. There can be no doubt that both towers were hit by large airplanes. We can see it happening on the many videos taken of the events that day. And there can be no doubt that both towers later collapsed (as did the building known as World Trade Center Building 7), again, we can see the video recordings of the events. We know something, involving an explosion of some sort, happened at the Pentagon. And we know that something traumatic happened in a field in Pennsylvania. And that, unfortunately, is where certainty ends and hypothesis and conjecture begin.
The uncertainty that lingers in the minds of many people about the events of that day is possibly the greater tragedy of Sept. 11th, 2001. It is a tragedy because it is an example of the loss of credibility the U.S. government and mainstream media have experienced and are experiencing within the American public. This loss of credibility is all the more significant because it does not appear to be due to a lack of education or awareness on the part of the American people. Rather, the decreasing credibility of our government and media appears to be happening because more Americans are engaged in critically questioning the official account (of many things).
Regarding the events of September 11, 2001, the evidence which has emerged which contradicts the official version of events is so significant, so credible and so widely disseminated, it seems to me the only way somebody can possibly cling to the official version is with blind acceptance. However, to rely upon blind acceptance of anyone’s version of such politically and sociologically important events seems very cavalier. Blind acceptance of someone’s interpretation of such events is dangerous in so many ways. We owe it to ourselves, our children and our community to critically analyze such events to the best of our ability. If we find we are not being given adequate reliable or accurate information by a particular source who ought to have the information we need, we should be asking what the reason(s) for such withholding and/or deception might be.
The official version which assigns responsibility, essentially, to 19 evil, suicidal, fanatics armed with box cutters following the directions of an evil, bearded, fanatic, mastermind who hid in caves is very easy to grasp. It is simple, in today’s complex world it is really too simple. It does not begin to explain all the interrelated variables that were in place that day and which collectively allowed the events which took place to happen. But it provides an explanation that would fit nicely into a Saturday morning children’s TV cartoon show.
What happened on September 11, 2001 is very important because the implications of the events are so profound. If those who believe there is a massive cover-up of government involvement in the events which took place are correct, then, in 2001, did key personnel within both the government and the military, at the highest levels, go rogue? Is there another explanation? Are key personnel currently occupying the highest offices within both the government and military, at the least, complicit in a cover-up? If there is evidence which can clearly and adequately demonstrate that the evidence the critics are relying upon is somehow incorrect or being misinterpreted, then please bring it forward. Doing so would do much to bolster public trust in our government and mainstream media.
Because there is too much to do justice to in this post, I am not attempting to restate the evidence which contradicts the official version of the events of Sept. 11th. However, I have provided some links below to some good sites to begin exploring the evidence:
